A review for Steve King – Samurai Karate school
Let me start with, what I’ve found commonly about reviews for business, clubs and groups is it’s normally written by a family member, friend or someone who will be rewarded for it. I met Steve for the first time when he was giving a karate class. I only know Steve for his Samurai Karate school.
Originally When I first approached a karate school it was because I wanted Chloe to develop her confidence around social situations and she had shown an interest in a karate group at school. However, when we went along to the karate group (It was nothing less than chaos) I found this group wasn’t for us.
Moving on and we arrived at Steve’s Samurai Karate school. I sat and watched as Steve taught the class. I could see within five minutes of being in the room that Steve had a great connection with all the children in the room, he knew the strengths and weaknesses of the children and throughout the class he developed their techniques, explained how and why you should do it the way he was saying.
Steve developed the children’s confidence and self -esteem. He certainly broke down Chloes walls of anxiety and lack of confidence
Every lesson, parents are welcome to watch, and you can see exactly what is being taught and the theory behind it all. Steve shares his wealth of experience, explaining all of what he has done, practiced, including mistakes and how he has learnt from those
Steve wants the children to be the best they can be, not just in the Dojo when he’s teaching but when they leave. He implores endless positive life lessons such as being resilient, never giving up, respect and believing in yourself.
Steve is full of passion and offers children and adults the opportunity to practice karate in a safe space.
It’s not a game, it’s a Japanese martial art. Since sitting in his lessons, I have learnt so much about children’s developing bodies and what they should and shouldn’t be doing, as it can cause so much damage, for example not using blockboards to punch and dangerous techniques which will end up causing injuries. I had no idea, and you don’t know what you don’t know.
So to bring this review to a close, if you want someone that has thirty plus years’ experience, is passionate about the process of teaching Karate, has a great understanding of how to teach, you want your child’s confidence to bloom and have a lot of fun in the safe, well planned structured lesson, then Samurai Karate school is the place you want to be. It’s so much more than a Karate school! You won’t be sorry you turned up!
