Sensei Ady Gray 6th Dan BSKA

Sunday 24th Feb 2019 we welcomed Sensei Ady Gray to the Samurai Dojo. This was Sensei Ady first visit to Samurai. Following a very enjoyable and educational course I am sure he will be back again.

The sessions covered both Competition Kata and Kumite. Looking at the difference in requirements compared to Dojo Karate.

Session 1 examined the presentation and performance of Heian Kata using Heian Shodan as a base. As a result students were able to clearly see the difference in presentation for competition scoring.

Session 2 was a busy and energitic Kumite session covering 4 indivivdual training drills. These stimulated reactions, agility footwork and timing. The drills were then combined in a random sequence to further test recations and timing.

After that , Session 3 was a indepth look at Kata Kanku Sho. For instance elements required for competition and likewise those for Dojo performance. Above all Sensei Ady gaves us a very clear distinction as to the requirement for each discipline.

Everyone had a most enjoyabe time and Sensei Ady Gray will certainly be back again in the future.

In conclusion this further strengthens our development and training partners. Working with top quality Karate-Ka. Sensei Ady Gray clearly demonstrates the quaities that made him Childrens Coach of the year 2018. He has also worked under the guidance of Dave Hazard Sensei for some 15 years.
