ESKA Individual Kata & Kumite Comp Jan 2026
The first competition of 2026 saw our Samurai Squad head over to Norwich for the ESKA Kata & Kumite event.
This was for individual competitors involving 170 competitors. So a very busy and competitive day.
A team of 20 students attended from Samurai and returned 21 medals which included 8 Golds. Everyone gave their very best as they always do. There was some great individual performances, Bear Styles and Alicja Mitera both taking 2 Golds each.
Maisie Merrison winning a Gold and Silver in her very first competition and Dominic Mitera winning his Kumite final with a 10 sec Jodan Mawashi Geri Ippon.
Annika Rovica-Vilkaja producing her best ever Kumite display winning her Kumite Gold with some great combinations.
It was great to see the students applying things that we have been working on in training and everyone stepping up and improving.
One of the greatest things was to see the spirit and togetherness of our team as they all supported and encouraged each other. It really is a Karate family and this one of our greatest strengths.
Congratulations to everyone both on and off the mat. Thank you to Dawn, William and Lorraine for the help on the day managing our squad. As the squad gets bigger so does our management team.
