Thomas Clarkson Academy was the venue for Samurai Karate School Championships 2019. It was the biggest ever Championships in its 20-year history with over 70 individual entries and 17 team and pairs entries. All the more special as are celebrating our 20th Anniversary this year.
The large crowd of spectators were greatly entertained by the competitive action on the day. It was also a great opportunity for parents and family to see our students in action and enjoy a display of their talents.
School Championships 2091
Sponsored by EDGE PLASTERING of WISBECH for which we are extremely grateful.
Many sections of School Championships 2019 were closely contested as the standard was so good. With many medals being decided by tie break or play off. In all there was great spirit on the mat as well as great camaraderie off it.
For many of the competitors this was their first competition so new boundaries being broken. Many were doing things that 12 months ago they did not think possible. We had ladies competing who have made massive life changes since taking up Karate. One was walking with two sticks 12 months ago another has had a hip replacement. While one has lost over a stone in weight since staring.
The children’ section clearly demonstrated the massive growth in their confidence, belief and ability as a result of training in Karate. We are proud of them all.
Top medal winners on the day were Amber Crossley-King 3 GOLDS and 1 SILVER and Euan Shaw 3 GOLDS.
Robbie ( The Robster ) Neal aged 10 was crowned as performer of the day. Winning his Junior Kumite section with a well controlled performance.

There is a real buzz in the Dojo now and this will carry through to next weekend as we have our 20th Birthday Party to look forward to. The celebrations continue on the 24th November as we have the ENGLAND EKF KATA Coach Sensei Ady Gray visiting us for a seminar.
Exciting times at Samurai Karate School and for Wisbech Karate.
